Jianxi and the CCP (apr 13, 1927 – jan 1, 1934)
Description:
- Jianxi set up as new base for CCP
- Mao recognised the power of the peasants and that the revolution must come from them and not the urban workers (made up 90% of people)
- Land reforms implemented; land taken from landlords and given to peasants
- Foot binding and arranged marriages declared illegal
- Reading classes for all introduced
- Medical care introduced
- Red army strengthened in order to protect Jianxi and spread propaganda by helping the populace
- Through these actions, the CCP was able to successfully spread communist ideology through the peasantry
- Forced to abandon due to attacks by National Revolutionary Army (NRA, GMD's army). Fled to Yanan by the Long March
