1994-1781 BCE – Egypt (jan 1, 1994 BC – jan 1, 1781 BC)
Description:
Earliest record of toss juggling, from the 15th Beni Hasan (also Bani Hasan, or Beni-Hassan) tomb of an unidentified prince, that shows female dancers and acrobats throwing balls. The Second image is what historians think is what jugglers juggled.
The prince is unknown, but according to “Beni Hasan: Archaeological Survey of Egypt, Volume 2,” the 15th tomb belongs to Baqt III (also spelled as Baqet III). He is described as the “Governor of the Oryx Nome.”
The cemetery contains 150 tombs and the image of jugglers is seen in what they call the 15th tomb. The tomb is from around 4000 years ago, between 1994 and 1781 BC.
