Frederick William the Great Elector (oct 8, 1601 – aug 7, 1608)

Description:

Frederick the Great came to power in the throws of the Thirty Years' War, and laid the foundation for a Prussian state. He created a competent and efficient standing army, and established the GENERAL COMMISARIAT to levy taxes. He gave nobles unlimited power over their peasants and exempted them from taxes so that they would support him. He was mercantalist and favored the interests of the noblity at the expense of the commercial and industrial middle classes.
