Byrd Amendment (jan 10, 1972 – mar 11, 1977)

Description:

The law had a provision to deny the ban of strategic metal imports from a non-communist country without making the same ban on a communist country. The intention of the bill was to end import ban on Rhodesian chromite ore to aid the Ian Smith minority regime.
The main mover of the bill was Harry Byrd who also opposed the civil rights legislation of Johnson.
