Christopher Columbus and the Columbian Exchange (jun 7, 1451 – feb 4, 1506)

Description:

In the search to reach Asia, Columbus made his journey and landed in the Americas. He was financed by Isabella and Ferdinand. He reached the Bahamas, and believed that he had indeed reached Asia. He then wanted to convert all the natives to Christianity, finding it the perfect opportunity. He was incredibly violent, and killed all those who did not convert (which was many because the natives could not understand what he was saying).

After Columbus's discovery of the Americas, the Colombian exchange began. This was when agriculture from the Americas was sent to Europe and became a part of the agricultural economy. Nonnative plants were planted in Europe, and then became staples. like potatoes in Ireland. European goods were also brought to the Americas.
