Cuban Missile Crisis (oct 16, 1962 – oct 28, 1962)

Description:

This event was probably the moment when the Cold War came closest to a nuclear war. It was about the Soviets storing nuclear warheads in Cuba for a better tactical position, basically revenge for the US having missiles in Turkey. In order to put their warheads in Cuba, the Soviets had to improve their relations there so they provided military, economic and political support in exchange for storing the warheads there. The conflict resulted in Kennedy withdrawing missiles from Turkey and Khruschev from Cuba.
