Description:
The Communist Party of China (CPC) was led by Mao Zedong who was victorious in Chinese Civil War. He gained control of Mainland China. October 1, 1949 established the People’s Republic of China. The central government of the Chinese Nationalist Party led by Jiang Jieshi was forced to retreat to island of Taiwan. Major armed hostilities ceased in 1950 but no peace treaty had been signed.Added to timeline:
