Chinese Civil War (apr 1, 1927 – may 1, 1950)
Description:
This war was the Nationalists (KMT) vs. Communists (CPC). They fought for control of China from 1925 - 1939. It was long and financially draining of China. The Sino-Japanese War (1939 - 1945) forced an uneasy alliance between KMT and CPC to defend against Japan. Constitutional rule established in 1947. Ongoing Civil War meant many provisions of ROC constitution were never implemented on mainland. People demanded reform and started to embrace CPC ideals.
