Washington Naval Treaty (feb 6, 1922 – jun 26, 1943)

Description:

The Washington Naval Treaty also known as the five-power treaty was signed on the 6th of February 1922. Which agreed to limit naval construction by the countries who signed to prevent invasion by naval ships. It was signed by USA, UK, France, Italy and Japan to prevent further wars between them. Effects of the treaty were the end of the Anglo-Japanese alliance and a reduced naval power from each country who signed. The treaty failed because naval disarmament limited the construction of large warships, but it didn’t affect smaller ships. Countries added smaller ships to build up the rest of their fleets.
