Maccabean Revolt (jan 1, 167 BC – jan 1, 160 BC)

Description:

This event was the rebellion of Jewish people that lasted 7 years. This revolt was led by Jewish rebel warriors that took over Judea, they are also called Maccabees. The Maccabees were trying to take down Seleucid Empire. The leader of the Seleucid Empire, Antiochus IV did not allow Jewish people to practice their religion and therefore sparked the rebellion. There were about 7 major battles between the two parties, and was titled the world's first religious war.
