Battle of Stalingrad (jul 17, 1942 – feb 2, 1943)
Description:
This was a battle fought in the town of Stalingrad between Russia and Germany. Hitler had sent troops to Stalingrad in hopes to win so that he would get their oilfields and to be able to take over the industrial city. This ended up going very bad for Germany because the winter was very harsh and in the end of a 188 day battle the Soviets ended up winning and gained troops from Germany. This was one of the first big defeats for Hitler and was the start of his downfall.
