Mussolini becomes Italian Leader (jan 1, 1925 – jan 1, 1945)

Description:

Benito Mussolini, an Italian political leader became the first fascist dictator of Italy, ruling for 20 years. Son to an ardent socialist and a devout catholic, Mussolini lived in small, simple quarters with his family. At age 10, he was expelled from his boarding school for stabbing another student as well as 4 years later but a suspension as punishment. Violating laws, being arrested and time in jail were parts of his early adulthood. After standing in a general election and losing, he attempted to overthrow the government – leading in an arrest. Fascism rose to power and Mussolini threatened to march on Rome with a slow reaction from the government. After the dissolving of the government, King Victor Emmanuel III appointed Mussolini as Prime Minister. Forming a partnership with Hitler, the two of them left the League of Nations and had officially joined to become the Rome-Berlin Axis. United through WWII however after years the perception through citizens of Italy it looked as though they were losing, resulting in Mussolini being detained and replaced as Prime Minister.
