Battle of the Atlantic (sep 3, 1939 – may 8, 1946)

Description:

A contest during World War II between the Western Allies and the Axis powers to prevent the axis powers in Europe, secure of the allied sea movements, and freedom to project military power across the seas. This was a turning point because it changed how we used military power.
