Description:
peasant rebellion rose due to economic pressure. this movement was a result of the reports of the revolution combined with the peasants own revolt in December 1788.
punishment from the nobles were criminals who set fire to the peasants crops, starving them. was motivated by the national assembly who did nothing to loosen the feudal system.
rumours spread that the cities had removed all criminals meaning they were hungry. THE GREAT FEAR swept through all regions of France, peasants attacked castles and burned contracts.
