Nanjing Massacre (dec 13, 1937 – jan 24, 1938)
Description:
The Nanjing Massacre was a mass killing and ravaging of Chinese citizens, it occurred over a six week period; from December 13, 1937, until around the 24th of January 1938.
CAUSES & EFFECTS
CAUSE 1-The Japanese's victory in Shanghai during the Sino-Japanese War. This bloody win made the Japanese thirst for more and Nanjing was their next target.
CAUSE 2- The Nationalists leader, Chiang Kai-Shek's fear of losing troops. He ordered the removal of most troops but forbade the citizen's evacuation. The city was left with untrained troops as a defence.
EFFECT 1- The deaths of 200,000-300,000 people.
EFFECT 2- Realations between Sino-Japanese is still affected to this day.
