League of Nations (jan 10, 1920 – apr 19, 1946)
Description:
Formally established on January 10th, 1920, and terminated on April 19, 1946. The League of Nations (LoN) was a group of nations who worked together to keep the peace. It was the forerunner for the United Nations (UN).
CAUSES & EFFECTS
CAUSE 1-The Treaty of Versailles.
CAUSE 2- The desire to avoid more bloodshed.
EFFECT 1- WWII. The LoN exposed weaknesses that ultimately encouraged Hitler to invade thus beginning WWII.
EFFECT 2- The forming of the United Nations. After WWII the UN was formed to replace the LoN and in doing so inherited several organisations and agencies originally founded by the LoN.
