First Opium war (jan 1, 1839 – dec 17, 1842)
Description:
The British and Chinese forces were opposed for some time throughout history, but the main factor lies in the Opium wars: A series of two wars fought over and against Opium laws.
The first opium war was fought when China outlawed opium and the British merchants kept sending it through various companies in India through China who smuggled it, these companies were soon caught and the opium was confiscated.
This angered many British merchants who used this as a source of income, though Opium was taking apart china's economy.
It further increased when some drunk British sailor killed a Chinese villager, the British government didn't turn them in as they would be tried in a Chinese court.
It went a step further when they destroyed a blockade of the Pearl River, soon they sent an expedition to China and as they were naturally more superior in technological advancements, annihilated the Chinese until they captured Nanjing which stopped the war... For a while...
