the Doom Book (jan 1, 893 – dec 31, 893)
Description:
The Code of Alfred the Great, written in 893 AD. Published as the Doom Book in 1890. Reflection of Mosaic law which states "You shall do no injustice in judgment! You shall not be partial to the poor; nor defer to the great! But you are to judge your neighbour fairly!". Alfred states "Doom very evenly! Do not doom one doom to the rich; another to the poor! Nor doom one doom to your friend; another to your foe!". Alfred used the principles of Mosaic law when composing his Code which then became the basic foundation of common law.
