The First Modern Olympics (apr 6, 1896 – apr 15, 1896)
Description:
The first modern Olympics were significant because it was the beginning of a tradition that was meant to bring the world closer together. The Olympics were meant to stop war, and in some cases they have, but they have not prevented two world wars. While they have brought some countries together they have also brought family and friends together. They also promote physical activity and sport and it is a nice tradion that was started around 120 years ago.
