American Civil War (apr 12, 1861 – dec 1, 1877)

Description:

The American Civil War was at a time when America was split into North and South and were at war. They were at war over largely due to their different points of view about slavery. This war is significant because of how many people died in it, but also because a result of the war was the North and South being brought closer together. Roughly 620 000 people died in the American Civil War, but since the North won the war, the Civil War was described as being proof that democracy worked.
