Washington Naval Treaty (feb 6, 1922 – dec 31, 1936)

Description:

The Washington Naval Treaty was a treaty between USA, Great Britain, France, Italy and Japan. The treaty was suppose to remove 1.9 million tons of warships belonging to USA, Great britain and Japan. A more detailed agreement meant that there would be 5 warships each for USA and GB, 3 for Japan and 1.67 each for Italy and France. The nations also agreed to make no more ships over a ten year period to stop the acceleration in ship making post war. One countrie that this could of had a massive effect on was Japan. Both Britain and America had much the superior industrial power so if a long war began it would most likely be Japan that is deafeated.
