1917-1920: Red Scare (jan 1, 1917 – nov 1, 1920)
Description:
A wartime hysteria of world revolution in America fueled by domestic turbulence and militant action (like both successful and attempted in public areas and of political figures). There was a suspicion of communism and fear of widespread infiltration of communists. General Intelligence Division sought after suspected radicals and Russian unions in order to deport them (no hearings). Dissolved into ideology of crazed minds were in America rather than a revolution. Left a crusade for 100% Americanism, restrictions on immigration, and stigmas on labor unions
