World War II (apr 1, 1939 – nov 1, 1945)

Description:

OT: Dr. Goldwin Howland, president of OSOT from 1925 to 1948, convinced the government of Canada that occupational therapists should enlist, not as volunteers or civilians in the armed
forces but as fully commissioned officers. Other nations' armed services either granted civilian status or only honorary rank. From 1943 to
1946 over seventy occupational therapists enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps and Royal Canadian Navy, serving as lieutenants.
