The first meeting of the Daughters of Bilitis (oct 1, 1955 – oct 31, 1955)

Description:

The Daughters of Bilitis were a gay rights organization with a membership comprised of mostly gay women. They published a newsletter wherein they expressed their goal of fighting against discriminatory laws against gay men and women. This organization fell out of favor for many of the reasons that the Mattachine Society did, they became outdated in the face of newer gay rights organizations in the wake of the Stonewall Riots.
