Description:
The main causes of World War I include strategy hidden alliances, racism and nationalistic pride. Nevertheless, there was one single event, the assassination of Austrian Archduke Ferdinand, which began a chain of events that led to war. It is remembered for the horrors of war, the loss of millions of soldiers and the impact it had on the remainder of the 20th century. By the time war started in 1914 millions of young men were excited about going to war.
