Truman Doctrine (jan 1, 1947 – dec 31, 1947)
Description:
In 1947, President Truman announced a policy to stop the spread of Communism:
“ I believe it must be the policy of the United States to support free people who are resisting attacks by armed minorities or outside pressures”
He said this in response to an attempt by communists to take over Greece.
The communists didn’t get help from the USSR but Stalin was voiced his encouragement.
