John Backus (dec 3, 1924 – mar 3, 2007)
Description:
John backus contributed heavily to the development of some early programming languages.
REASONS WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT:
1) He created FORTRAN, one of the first high-level computer programming languages
2) He worked on ALGOL, another early programming language that introduced block structure, which helped write large programs from small components.
3) Backus-Naur form came partially from him, which became the groundwork for the syntax for almost all programming languages
