Age of Vikings (jan 1, 790 – jan 1, 890)
Description:
Political - Vikings were Norse mariners who invaded and plundered settlements all across Eurasia. unprotected monasteries were attacked in the 790s by the first Viking invaders, and forces mounted increasingly daring raids. Because the Carolingians had no navy, they didn't have a way to protect themselves against the Vikings, and couldn't predict the Viking's movements. Later, the Vikings established settlements and created small, independent states.
