Political - The Hundred Years' War was a series of campaigns were factions fought for control of lands in France. The kings of France and England fought over lands claimed by German princes and Italian city-states, leading to the war. After the war, large standing armies, composed of mercenary forces equipped with gunpowder weapons were formed.
