Alan Turing was a computer scientist that is now widely regarded as the "father of computer science."REASONS WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT:
1) He came up with the idea of a turing machine, a hypothetical computer that could perform any operation, no matter how complex
2) The turing machine is, in some ways, a precursor to artificial intelligence
3) He also came up with the Turing test, a test which could be used to determine the difference between machine and human thoughts.
