Jerome Kagan (feb 25, 1929 – jan 1, 2019)

Description:

Jerome Kagan is an American psychologist, and Daniel and Amy Starch Research Professor of Psychology. He is one of the key pioneers of development psychology.

Kagan studied how biological conditionals increased a child's vulnerability to emotions, like fear and apprehension. His theory of emotion grew out of his research on temperament. He posited that emotion is the result of specific brain states combined with context and temperament.

Temperament means behavioral and emotional traits that shape the way people react to the world around them. For example, why some people being enjoy in a loud party, while some people like to be alone. Otherwise, why when two people face in the same situation, their reactivity is different, that was Kagan being interested to research with.
