Modern Views (jan 1, 1818 – jan 1, 1865)

Description:

During this period, modern views of Sepsis developed. Ignaz Semmelweis was an obstetrician and several of his patients along with their unborn babies were dying from the disease. He discovered this was because his learning interns were not washing their hands after dealing with decomposing animal bodies before then treating pregnant women. As a result, he introduced sanitary measures to counter-act this.
