Although Canada did not officially participate in the Vietnam War, it still had many effects on Canada. Even though Canada was not officially in the war, it is approximated that 12,000 Canadians served in the war; 134 Canadians had lost their lives. It also affected Canada socially; around 60,000 Vietnamese people had fled to Canada to avoid the draft.Added to timeline:
