Voyage without Hawkins (jan 1, 1565 – jan 1, 1566)

Description:

Prior to 1567:
- Hawkins forbade from travelling by Elizabeth due to the complaints of the Spanish and Portuguese governments
- As a result, Hawkins sent John Lovell in his place, accompanied by Drake
- Lovell less subtle in his methods and poor judgement so the trip was marred by hostile clashes and outright piracy
- Even so, the slaves and goods were sold again for a profit
- Drake returned home to sail with Hawkins in 1567
