Description:
General William T. Sherman captured Atlanta, an important Confederate city. Afterwards, Sherman decided to take about 62,000 soldiers on a march from Atlanta to the Atlantic coast in Savannah, destroying many items and property on the way. It affected the South’s morale and was a vital event leading up to the surrender of the South.
