Description:
Motivated by the 'Long Depression' beginning in 1873, companies across Germany began forming cartels in all sorts of industries to create economic stability, cut costs, and control prices. In 1875, there were just 70 cartels; by 1911, that number had risen to 600. A cartel comprised of Germany's five largest dyestuff companies, for example, became responsible for 90 per cent of Germany's output.Added to timeline:
