Middle/Dark Ages (jan 1, 476 – jan 1, 1453)
Description:
Very little innovations happened in Europe due to the fall of Rome. The most notable innovation during the dark ages in Europe was the printing press created by Johann Gutenberg. His printing press could mass produce text in a very quick fashion. This helped society share information more freely. Although there were other printing presses made before his time, Gutenberg’s was by far the most accessible and convenient. Although Europe did not advance very far as a whole, China did develop many items still used in everyday life. This includes gun powder, papermaking, iron casting, and textiles.
