Bleeding Kansas (jan 1, 1854 – sep 1, 1861)
Description:
Pro slavery and Anti slavery factions from the South and North respectively sent hordes of settlers to Kansas to participate in the popular sovereignty. This led to huge amounts of violence and bloodshed. This was good for slavery in the long run because it ended the experiment of popular sovereignty and forced congress to look for a different solution.
