100 Flowers Movement (jan 1, 1956 – jan 1, 1957)
Description:
When the Communist Party of China (CPC) asked people to send their criticisms of the regime, saying that no punishments would be given and all criticism would be accepted. At first no one sent in, and when they finally began, the criticism was not well received, was often called capitalist of anti communist, and many deaths, exiles, etc. resulted.
