Cuban Missle Crisis (oct 16, 1962 – oct 28, 1962)
Description:
After a failed USA-backed invasion of Cuba, Fidel Castro feared another invasion attempt was inevitable. Due to this, he agreed to let the Soviet Union install Nuclear Missiles in the country. The US discovered the installments; in the following 13 days, the world was on the brink of nuclear war. This crisis eventually concluded with a diplomatic compromise between the Soviet Union and the US in which the Soviets removed the missiles in Cuba and the US removed its nuclear arms from Turkey. This was the point of highest tension in the Cold War.
