Alonzo Herndon was born into slavery and just like Booker and most African Americans, wanted a better life for them selves. So Herndon learned how to be a barber and opened his own shop in Jonesboro, GA. He stayed there for five years and decided to move to Atlanta, GA because he felt business would increase. Sadly Herndon passed away on July 21, 1927 shorty after his 69th birthday.Added to timeline:
