The Great Schism (jan 1, 1378 – jan 1, 1417)

Description:

The first event happened in 1054 when the Church was divided into the Eastern and the Western Christian Church, because the Eastern Orthodox Church believed that the Western Roman Catholic Church was corrupt and exploitative. Then later, a bigger conflict happened when there were three contestants for the Papacy, the Church was also divided into the Eastern and Western Christian Church. The internal tussle for ultimate power of papacy significantly reduced the influence and power of the Church over common people.
