Domain Name System (apr 4, 1983 – dec 12, 1989)
Description:
In 1983, the domain name system was created. It allowed for simpler domains for websites as opposed to IP addresses which were used before. (.com, .net, .edu, .gov) These are still used to date. As time went on, more and more hosts are created on the internet. The first commercial provider was created called world.std.com. They allowed for everyone to purchase a router with internet service.Added to timeline:
