Coup of 18th Brumaire (nov 9, 1799 – nov 10, 1799)

Description:

The executive power was placed in the hands of the five members of the Directory with a five-year mandate. The Directory became involved in corruption, political conflict and financial problems. It became more and more reliant on the Army in the foreign and domestic affairs, also in finance. On November 9-10 there was a coup d'etat with the five dictators. They were ousted and replaced by three "consuls".
