Iran's war with Iraq (jul 1, 1980 – apr 1, 1988)
Description:
Iraq's dictator Saddam Hussein started the war in 1980, it lasted until 1988 with no real winner or benefit to either country. While the war waged on 500,000 casualties were reported with rampant ballistic missile attacks and chemical attacks. Eventually the UN brokered a ceasefire resolution that ended the war in 1988.
