SALT II (jan 5, 1972 – jan 1, 1979)
Description:
SALT II was a much longer negotiation that was complicated by the fact that the U.S.S.R had focused on large warheads, whereas the U.S. had focused on smaller, more accurate missiles. However, agreements were finally made in order to limit the amount of strategic launchers, limits were put on ICBMs, SLBMs, heavy bombers, and the amount of strategic launchers. This was signed by Jimmy Carter and Brezhnev on June 18, 1979.
