The Reign of Gustavus Adolphus (apr 30, 1611 – dec 31, 1632)

Description:

Gustavus Adolphus was the King of Sweden from 1611 - 1632 and was especially known for his military expertise and strategy. Despite only being 17 when he was appointed king, he was extremely intelligent and courageous. Adolphus gained most of his fame from his entry into the Thirty Years' War on the Protestant side, however he had a number of other achievements. Prior to his entry into the Thirty Years' War, Adolphus had finished three different wars with Denmark, Poland, and Russia. Even though his reign was relatively short, Adolphus lead Sweden into what could be considered a Golden Age for Sweden. His military tactics were much more advanced than other opposing armies of the time, and he was even studied by future commanders such as Napoleon Bonaparte.
