Potsdam Conference (jul 17, 1945 – aug 2, 1945)
Description:
In the Potsdam Conference, Churchill and Stalin return to meet. However, Roosevelt, who had served as a buffer between Churchill and Stalin, had died and was replaced by Truman. Also, as Herbert Feis put it, "thoughts were brushed by the cold snow of mutual distrust and dislike." With such ideological differences, the leaders again found themselves unable to agree on anything except for how to punish Germany. While the western leaders were concerned about Stalin's attempts to spread communism, Stalin felt as if the Soviets were being denied at the bargaining table. This distrust increased tensions.
