Age of Vikings (jan 1, 800 – jan 1, 1050)
Description:
During this time period, the group of people called the "Vikings" occupied modern day Scandinavia, predominately Sweden. These people were sea-faring warriors and relatively disorganized people, and were generally seen as barbarians to some Europeans. Prior to early modern Europe, the Vikings ventured in search of riches and additional land, especially in the British Isles, Greenland, Iceland, and Russia. What separated the Vikings from early-modern Sweden was their lack of unity, which would later change due to a later exposure to Christianity in the 11th century.
