The Renaissance (jan 1, 1300 – jan 1, 1600)
The Middle Ages was followed by the Renaissance. The word Renaissance is the word "rebirth" in french. The Renaissance began around the 14yh century, European thinkers, writers and artists started to look back at the culture and art of the ancient Greece and Rome and celebrated them. The Europeans ignored the period after the fall of Rome as a "Middle" age because no scientific accomplishments had been made, no great art produced and no great leaders born. The Renaissance reached Britain in the early 16th century, long after the beginning of the Renaissance in Italy in the 14th century. During this time, the Greek and Roman thoughts and arts were rediscovered. People started to become less religious and the sensual pleasures became less of a taboo.
